LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Jessica Simpson's latest desire to keep a pet pig has not gone down well with animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which has accused the actress of using pets as accessories. "I’m thinking about getting a pet pig. Does this mean I'll have to give up pork?" Simpson wrote on her Twitter page.
The 29-year old actress and singer drew flak with the post as PETA hit out at Simpson for considering owning the farm pet. "Pigs, who are smarter than dogs and every bit as sensitive to pain and stress, don't belong in Jessica's stomach or to be carted around as her latest accessory," said a spokesperson of the group.
The comments come just months after socialite and heiress Paris Hilton was criticised by PETA chiefs for adopting a pot bellied pig.
