Name: Yogi Bear Segura
Breed: Chow/Golden Retriever mix
Gender: Male
Age: 2 years
Resident of: Apple Valley, California, USA
Name of human parent: Renee Segura, licensed vocational nurse
Disposition: Yogi is very good natured, playful and loving. He is an excellent watch dog and will alert us if someone approaches the door or the yard.
Person he is most attached to:
Yogi was adopted by my two children and myself, and is most attached to me, although he loves us all dearly. He will wait by the gate until one of us comes home and then wag his tail furiously, while making sweet howling noises to tell us how much we were missed.
Attitude towards children:
I have two children—Lyrissa (11) and Rickey (14). Yogi Bear is very patient, loving and gentle with both of them. In fact, he rubs up on them every chance he gets!
Daily Diet:
He enjoys a mixed meal of dry and wet food.
Favourite Treats:
Peanut butter flavoured doggy ice cream, doggy frozen treats, fruits, cooked carrots and French fries. He also enjoys gravy on his food.
Activity Level:
Yogi has his calm moments and hyper active moments. After he has been outside to play or walk, Yogi will come in and relax where we are sitting. Sometimes, he will run around with his toys and bring them to our feet as if to say, “Come on, let's play!” He definitely knows how to get our attention.
Yogi Flashback:
When Yogi first came home, he was offered a dog biscuit but would not take it as he did not know what it was. After observing our other dog eating the treat, he played with it for a while but still did not eat it. It took him a couple of days to realise that the biscuit was meant for eating! Now, he can’t get enough of them.
Eccentricities/Quirks:
Yogi has often been compared to a cat. He will rub up on people and throw himself down at their feet in order to be touched. Either way, it is an adorable quality.
Favourite Pastime:
Yogi enjoys going for a ride in the car or for a walk. When he sees the leash or sees us getting his doggy seat belt ready, he becomes very anxious and excited. He then runs to the door, beating us there!
Fears, if any: Men. I am certain that he has had bad experience with males, as he was and at times still is, very timid with men. Yogi will skimper away and hide when male family members come to visit. However, he doesn’t stay away from them entirely. After a while, he gets curious and goes over to make friends with them. Once he is confident that the other party is not offensive, he will sit by them and lick them.
